' RECOMMENDED ID CITY COUNCIL 1 ' Concerning the Carnegie Corporation Libraiy Fellowship of 3,000d0l offered to the chief librarian (Mr A. G._ W. Dunninghain), the Library Committee reports that it is of the opinion that the proposals offer a unique opportunity for the librarian to acquire special training and valuable information in modern methods of library administration and service, and therefore recommends that the necessary leave be granted the librarian to enable him to take advantage of the Carnegie Corporation grant, on the understanding that Mr Dunninghain will not accept another position, excepting with the council’s consent, within a period of five years after his return to duty. If the council’ approves, it is further recommended that Mr E. H. M’Cormick, M.A. (Hons.), Dip. Ed., be appointed deputy librarian for the period of Mr Dunninghain’s absence at a total remuneration of £2OO, and that Mr Dunningham’s salary for the same period he £IOO, plus his present allowance for _ superannuation.
