LIGHT-HEARTED FANTASY

‘MY WEAKNESS’ FDR GRAND Lilian Harvey, a charming Continental actress at present in Hollywood, is admirably suited to fantasy, and she gives a line portrayal in a light-hearted vole in ‘ My Weakness,’ which will open a season at the Grand Theatre to-mor-row. For her premier appearance in a film made in America the Fox studios have selected none other than Lew Ayres as her leading man, thus assuring Miss Harvey a noteworthy introduction to her new audience. Tho story is by Mr Do Sylva, who will be remembered as tho writer of some of the world’s most popular song numbers. The music, from tho combined pens of De Sylva, Leo Robin, and Richard Whiting, is said to be among the most brilliant recently produced. The cast in support of Miss Harvey and Ayres includes many notable figures of the stage and screen. Among these are Charles Butterworth, Harry Langdon, Sid Silvers, Irene Bentley, Henry'Travers, Adrian Rosley, and a number of the most beautiful girls Hollywood can offer—Mary Howard, Irene Ware, Barbara Weeks, Susan Fleming, Marcella Edwards, Marjorie King, Jean Allen, Gladys Blake, and Dixie Frances. The direction of this production is by David Butler, who also provided the continuity. Additional dialogue was supplied by Bert Hanlon and Ben Ryan. Miss Harvey has wide, blue, questioning eyes, and a shock of blonde hair that falls alluringly about her shoulders. She is claimed to be tho most versatile girl on the screen, numbering lawn tennis and golf among her accomplishments. She is an expert horsewoman, an excellent swimmer, can do waltz numbers on skates, walk a tight or slack wire, is a professional dancer, and drives a racing car at 140 miles an hour. Although she has done dramatic roles, and has great talent for any sort of acting, her real forte is comedy. But she never descends to slapstick. j
