“UNSIGHTLY BLOCK"
HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATION BUILDING Because the plans have been approved and a tender let, the Dunedin Amenities Society lias decided not to protest against the designs for the new hospital administration block. At last night’s meeting, when town planning was being discussed, Mr Crosby Morris (president) remarked that when he saw the plans published in the Press he considered whether or not the society should protest against the erection of so unsightly a block of buildings. However, it was too late now to make a protest. The Director-General has now forwarded to the Otago Hospital Board Ministerial approval to the erection of the new administration block, and the acceptance of the tender of Mr W. H. Naylor for the sum of £33,120, and also for the provision of a lift for the sum of £I,OOO. The Commissioner of Unemployment has intimated that the Unemployment Board has extended until Juno 1 the period allowed for the commencement of this work.
