IMPERIAL EX-SERVICEMEN
CONCERT AND DANCE The first social event of the season, also the first of an attractive schedule arranged by the Social Committee of the Imperial Ex-Servicemen's Association for‘the winter,, attracted a large number of members and their wives on Monday evening last at the R.S.A. Club rooms, the occasion being to mark the departure of Mrs Lilly on a holiday visit to England, Mr Watt, speaking of Mrs Lilly’s early departure, wished her, on behalf of the association, -an enjoyable holiday tour and a pleasant voyage. Mr Bishop spoke in prais. of Mrs Lilly’s activities, coupled with Mesdames Moss and Natush, in conection with the very outstanding results from Poppy Day collections, and solicited more assistance from other ladies for next Poppy Day to enable an even higher result to be achieved.
Mrs Lilly, in reply, thanked the speakers for their kind remarks and wishes for a pleasant and happy voyage. Her efforts on Poppy Day, when the association topped the list, were only possible through the great assistance rendered by Mesdames Moss and Natush. It was the least they could do for the Tommies who gave so much during the years 1914-18. Mr Lee, president, thanked the performers for making the evening a success, and reminded members of the attractive schedule of social fixtures during the winter. Mention was also made of the big strides made in the growth of membership. The R.S.A., Australian Association, and the Legion of Frontiersmen were represented. An excellent supper was served, supplied by the ladies of the Social Committee. Items were provided by Mr Perkins (song), Mr M’Benn (pipes), Mr J. Patterson (Scotch, songs and recitations), Mr Abbott (songs and recitations), Mr Gorric (recitation), Mr liarrold (songs).
