TECHNICAL COLLEGE TENNIS CLUB.

TO THE EDITOR. • Sir, —As an ex-member of the Technical College Tenuis Club it is with interest that I learn that this club has been disbanded. Why. disband? Does the club not receive the support of the expnpils of the Technical College? 1 learn further that the present members of the chib have decided to spend the balance of the club’s funds on a cabaret party for the members —an amount of £2G odd. Would not a better and nobler object have been served had the club handed over its surplus funds to the mavor’s relief depot, or if this does not meet' wjth general approval, and considering that the present members really have the interest of tenuis at heart, would they not have been serving the game better by handing their balance to the Otago Lawn Tennis Association to help to liquidate its debt on the association courts at Logan Park? About four years ago, when 1 was a- member of this club, there was a consiclerahlc surplus of funds, and as the membership lias been well maintained during the past few years, why is it that the present committee cannot show a bigger surplus? It would appear that the surplus has not been built up by the present committee or members, but is a legacy from the past. Why then should it be spoilt for the pleasure of the present members? Trusting that the members will rescind their present decision and take a broader view of the disposal of their funds, —I am, etc., Ex-Member. May 12.
