DELAY AT BASRA Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyrighi . KARACHI, May 14. (Received May 15, at 1.45 p.m.) Minor engine repairs performed by the Royal Air Force at Basra delayed Miss. Batten, otherwise she might have equalled Miss Amy Johnson’s record of live and.a-half days to reach Karachi. Miss Batten achieved a record by making the first direct flight_to Cyprus in two days seven hours, 1,670 miles oversea, the longest-lap of which was from Athens to Cvprus. 620 miles. Miss Batten will endeavour to reach Australia in twelve days, necessitating averaging twelve hours' flying daily.—Loudon ‘ Times ’ Cable.
