KAIKORAI GROUND COMPANY

ANNUAL MEETING A lengthy’ period of' service' as chairman of the Kaikorai Football Ground Company since its - inception formed the subject of eulogies by the directorate in respect to Mr T. Farley at the company’s forty-first annual meeting, held in the Bisliopscourt pavilion on Saturday night. • After several speakers had referred to Mr Farley’s fine record and to the fact that during that period ho had attended every meeting, it was decided to draw up a" minute in appreciation of’.his Untiring efforts for the ground’s improvement. Mr Farley briefly replied, and said that he did not wish to seek re-elec-tion as chairman for the coming term. He thanked the directors for the willing manner in which they had carried out their duties. The annual report stated that the receipts and expenditure during the past year had considerably increased. This was largely due to the arrangelueut entered into with M'Glushan and Columba Colleges whereby these two bodies now paid into the company their share of the caretaker’s salary, whereas in the previous agreement each college paid the caretaker separately. Apart from this increase, the expenses for tho past season had been very heavy in comparison with tho income, the result being that, instead of showing a credit balance, the company had experienced a loss of £9 19s 8d on the year’s operations. The expenditure on improvements-amounted,'to £72 13s 3d, as compared with £2l 18s lOd for the previous year. The heaviest iteru of expense, . topping and cutting the hedge, totalled £35. The adoption of the animal report and balance-sheet was moved by the Chairman, who said that this was the first time in the company’s existence that an adverse balance-sheet had been presented. ■ The small loss was due do unforeseen expenses, necessitated by various improvements to the property. The ground and buildihgs Were now in excellent order. The chairman said, in conclusion, that it was now fortyone years since tho company was formed to make provision for a ground for the Kaikorai Football Club, and in that, time lie had not missed a meeting. He had been chairman from the company’s inception, and he thought it .was.-indeed-opportune'for him to relinquish that position in favour of another director. In speaking lo the motion Mr D. M. Spcdding congratulated the Ground Committee on the -manner in which it had carried out its duties! He hoped the chairman would continue to carry on for a few more years.
