WALKER CUP AMERICA WINS THE FOURSOMES Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, May 11. (Received May 12, at 11.30 a.m.) At St. Andrew’s in the 'Walker Cup competition America won the foursomes by three matches to one. Goodman and Little defeated Tolley and Wethered, 8 and 6. Ouimet and Dunlap lost to M'Lean and M'Cruvie, 4 and 2. Moreland and Westland defeated Bentley and 'Fiddian, 6 and 5. Marston and Egan defeated Scott and M‘Kinlay, 3 and 2. America only needs to win four out of the eight thirty-six holes of the singles to-morrow to win the Walker Cup. To-day’s biggest surprise was the sweeping defeat of Tolley and Wethered. Both putted indifferently. Wethered’s driving was so erratic that he became dangerous to the spectators; he actually hit one. The American pair were consistent, but not brilliant. They were astounded to win 8 and 6 with a round of 76.
