RAVENSBOURNE BOATING CLUB

PRESENTATION OF PRIZES The llavensbourne Boating Club held its annual social evening for the purpose of presenting the club trophies, and as a winding-up function to a successful season. The commodore (Mr W. Webber) expressed his pleasure at seeing the large number present in spite of the adverse weather conditions. It went to show, he said, that the true yachting spirit was still to be found among the younger members of to-day. A welcome visitor of the evening was Commodore C. W. Sundstruni, of the Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Club. Mr Sundstrnm, whose generosity in yachting sport is well known, gave a valuable trophy to the Ravensbourne Boating Club to be sailed for over the club’s course next season, the crews of the competing boats to be under the age of twenty-one "years. This race will be open to all boats in the harbour. Mr Sundstrnm expressed pleasure at seeing so many young enthusiasts present, and said that it spoke well for the future of the club. Commodore Webber thanked Mr Sundstrnm for his generous offer to the club, stating that they would do all they could to have as large a field as possible for the race. . The musical part of the _ programme was provided by a clever trio in Messrs J. Donaldson (piano accordion), ■). Everts (violinist), S. Edwards (guitar). The presentation of prizes was made by Commodores Webber and Sundstrura, the Cuthbert Cup being presented by the donor, Mr T. Cuthbert. The placings resulted as follows: — .
