STRANGE DEATH
ARM IMPRISONED IN DRAWER ELDERLY WOMAN'S FATAL FAINT [Per United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, May 10. , Held captive for many hours, wilh' an elbow stuck in the top drawer jf a chest of drawers, Helen Mafia Theakston, aged eighty, a single roman, by occupation a music teacher, of Worcester street, met her death in a strange manner. It is believed that she fainted while opening- the drawer before retiring on Tuesday evening, and that the pressure of her body closed the drawer on her arm, so that she could not release herself. She was unconscious when found yesterday afternoon, and was taken fo the hospital when she died at 7 tMs morning. She lived alone. A light was burning in the room when a man employed in the garden came yesterday morning. HS informed the police, who broke into the house. An inquest will be held.
