CAPPING CARNIVAL

Next week the students of_ the Otago University will celebrate their Capping Carnival, and citizens as well as students are looking forward eagerly to this event. It is expected that this year’s capping will be of a much higher standard than for many years. Preparations which have been in hand tor some weeks are extremely elaborate. The procession, which will take place next Wednesday, is in the hands of a very capable committee, and every endeavour is being made to show the public that the students of to-day can create procession “ stunts ” that will equal, if not surpass, any presented by students of ton and fifteen years ago. The concert, which is well in rehearsal, will bo one of outstanding merit. The popular sextet will tell its audiences in its inimitable manner all about the doings of some of Dunedin’s most highly respected citizens and others. 1 The Private AVife of King Henpeque •VIII.’ is a farce which lends itself to the most ridiculously funny burlesque. The table manners of King Henpeque VIII. are said to out-Henry Henry VIII. in his most vulgar moments, as portrayed by Charles Laughton. Tho farce ‘ To the Last Alan ’ concerns the tragic life of a retired buU-fightress. This year tho capping book, which will bo on Sale on Tuesday, will be bigger by a few pages than in previous years, and it is considered will be of a higher standard than in the past.
