CREW SAFELY ASHORE

The captain and the crew of the coastal steamer Nambucca which went ashore at the entrance to the Nambucca river, reached the shore by means of a line stretching from the ship’s bows to the shore. There is still hope of saving the vessel. ROUNDED BY HEAVY SEAS. SYDNEY, May 9. (Received May 9, at 10.15 a.m.) Continually lashed by heavy seas and with her holds half full of water, the plight of the Nambucca is serious. It is feared that the constant pounding will result in the vessel becoming a total loss.
