ENGLISH COMEDY AT ITS BEST When a film like ‘This is the .Life ’ is produced, there is no need to urge filmgoers to “ see British.” This British Dominions release, which will commence a season on Friday at the St. James Theatre, proves that British comedies lead the world with laughter. Hollywood has never made a film that is so screamingly funny from the moment it starts to the final “ fade out.” Gordon. Marker and Binnie Hale are the stars. Their rendering of a duet from ‘ if Trovatore ' is full of mirth, and their version of the rumba is sidesplitting. Jack Baity and Charles Heslop are also in the film. Anybody who likes , a real laugh should not miss ‘This is the Lile.’ Binnie Hale, a sister of Sonnie Hale, who made such a hit in ‘ Tell M 3 tonight,’ makes her talking picture debut in ‘ This is the Life.’ The critics have hailed her as a new star, and it is said that she has been signed for a longterm contract as the direct result of her performance in this, her first, production.
