FORBURY PARK TROTTING CLUB

TO RACE TO-MORROW Early this morning the committee of the For bury Park Trotting Club met and decided that as the track was not fit to race on to-day another postponement of the second day of the Winter Meeting was imperative, and it was agreed to call a meeting of owners and trainers to obtain their opinions regarding when the racing should be held. At 10.30 a fully-representative meeting of owners and trainers was held, Mr B. S. Irwin, president of the dub, presiding. He explained the unfortunate circumstances which had necessitated calling the meeting, and said that the executive of the club was anxious to do everything in its power to meet the wishes of the owners and trainers. He suggested postponing the day’s racing until Thursday. Mr E. F. C. Hinds, speaking on behalf of the visiting owners and trainers, said they also regretted the bad luck that the club had met with, and expressed appreciation of the efforts of the officials for their consideration and kindness. There were thirty-two horses going on from Forbury to the Oamaru Meeting on Saturday, and it really did not matter which day they raced here. He suggested a postponement till Thursday, Mr W. Bussell moved that they race to-morrow, and this was seconded by Mr C. M. Archer. After some discussion this was carried on a show of hands, the voting being about 80 to 4. The committee of the club then met, and it was decided to definitely race to-morrow, all the original arrangements made for last Saturday standing.

Only two trainers —M. B. Edwarus, with Nimbus and Summit, and J. J. Kennerley, with Young Travis—have decided not to wait.

The Railway Department advises that the south express to-morrow ' evening will stop at Caversham to pick up passengers for southern stations, and also that horses will be taken on this train if desired.
