THEFT CHARGES

CANVASSER COMMITTED FOR TRIAL fPjiß United Pkbse Association. 1 WELLINGTON, May 7. Decision was given by Mr W. F. Stil,well. S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court in a case in which George Alexander Low. aged thirty-one, a canvasser and hawker, was charged with stealing five gold rings and a necklace, valued at £3B 10s, the property of G. L. Stcdman. The hearing of the case was concluded on Friday, but the magistrate took time to consider whether he should dismiss the charge or commit Low for trial. Mr Stilwell said that ho had perused the evidence, and he thought it indicated that Low should meet the charge of theft. Accordingly, lie committed Low to the Supreme Court for trial.
