BUSHED DEERSTALKERS

BROUGHT OUT SAFE LOCATED BY PLANE [Per United Press Association.] INVERCARGILL, May 2., At 6 o'clock this evening W. Moore and F. Davis, the two Winton youths who were lost in the Lilburne 'Valley on Sunday, returned to Winton little the worse for their experience. They were discovered this morning in the dense Helmet country by Mr T. Clark and party, who entered the bush the previous evening. The young men had subsisted since Sunday on half a sandwich each day. They saw a plane yesterday afternoon, but" failed to attract the attention of the pilot, as they were in a gully at the time and could find no dry wood to light a fire. They made for a ridge, and about an hour later again saw the plane. They were then able to light a fire, the smoke from which was seen by the airman, who was accompanied by Mr Clark. The latter organised the party that set out- last evening, and they made for the spot where the smoke , was seen in the afternoon. At 7.30 this morning Moore and Davis heard a “ Cooee ” and returned the call, the search, party arriving on the scene a few moments later.
