MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Dunedin Jockey Club, held yesterday, was attended by Messrs A. C. Hanlon, L. C. Hazlett, A. N. Smith. A. Barnett, J. Mathewson, B. S. Irwin, F. Tyson, W. F. Edmond, W. J. L. Goughian, Dr floss, and Dr Batchelor. It was resolved that the starting time for the first two days of the Winter Meeting be 11.30 a.m., and on the third day 12.10 p.m. The last race each day to start at 4.10 p.m. It was resolved to engage the Waverlcy Boys’ Baud for all three days of the meeting. After discussion it was; resolved to continue the win and pliico system of betting. The- secretary was instructed to make inquiries m respect to installing loud speakers to give a running description of the races. The following Judicial Committee was appointed Messrs Hanlon, Barnett, Goughian, Garrett, and Dr Koss. Messrs Hanlon and Smith were appointed the club’s representatives to conference. Messrs Hanlon, Hazlett, Goughian, Smith, and Draper were appointed the club’s representatives on the District Committee. It was decided to forward the following remits to conference: — 1. “ That clubs have the option of installing one machine for win betting and one machine for betting on the 75-25 per cent, basis.” 2. “ That conference take into consideration the advisability of making a redistribution of holiday dates amongst the various clubs.” Consideration of stakes for the classic races during the 1934-5 season was deterred until after the Winter Meeting. The Chairman of the Works Committee reported that the contractors were pushing forward the work of renovating the stand, and it was resolved that the full committee visit Wingatui at 3 p.m. on Tuesday next. An offer by Mr A. A. i’aape to donate a marble slab for use at Wingatui was accepted with thanks. Regarding the issue of complimentary tickets to permanently disabled soldiers, it was resolved that in future all applications for such tickets must bo recommended by the secretary of the Returned Soldiers’ Association.

An application by the harrier clubs to use Wingatui on May 26 was granted. One new member was elected.
