A MISTAKEN REPORT.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Some weeks ago there appeared in a Taranaki newspaper a report that Airs P. Brophy, Pungarehu, was* giving me £I,OOO out of £2,000 she had won in a lottery for the purpose of building a school and convent here. 1 wrote to the paper in question, telling them that there was absolutely no truth in the rumour, which was a source of annoyance to both Airs Brophy and me. Other pa pel's published the report also. T.do not know if you did. But I do know that some to which I have sent a contradiction did not have the ordinary decency to retract the mischievous canard. And as people still write to congratulate me I should be deeply obliged if you would publish this letter, I am, etc., James Kkt.lt (Parish Priest of Pungarehu). Pungarehu, April 27.
