PORT CHALMERS CLUB
The official opening of the Port Chalmers Club, held on the Sawyers Bay links on Saturday afternoon, attracted a reoOrd attendance of members, visiting players, and friends. The President (Dr R. W. Edgar), in welcoming those present, expressed his pleasure at seeing among the visitors representatives of Maeandrew Bay, Taieri, and all the city clubs. He made reference to the: great improvements to the bourse during the last twelve months, and especially to the greens which, as a result of advice given by Mr A. M‘Car thy, of St. Clair Club, were now in first-class condition. He wished all members a nin«i successful season.
The Club Captain (Mr D. Forsyth) and Mr J, H. Crawford, wh> had recently been elected a life member of the- club, also extended a welcome to the visitors, and expressed the hope that members would have a successful season. , , . ~ Dr Edgar, with a good shot from the first tee, then declared the .season officially open. Afternoon tea was dispensed by Mrs Edgar and tbo members of the Ladies’ Committee. The players indulged in mixed foursome games for the rest of the afternoon.
