SyKes, auditor; Mr Paul Lemon, solicitor; Mr Harold Riddle, secretary and treasurer. ~J Mr Martin, on talcing the chair, returned thanks for his election, and stressed the need for keeping high the standard of professional conduct and teaching. It should bo made perfectly clear to the public, he said, that thb chief aim of the association was _to create a higher standard of teaching and exalt the profession to the highest position at all times. For their , own benefit members should co-operate to the utmost in an endeavour to raise the status of their profession. It was not reasonable to expect professional musicians to give their services.entirely free on all occasions; there were times when it would be a pleasure to help a worthy cause without fee. but surely it was unjust to expect them to do so oh all occasions. .„ - Sympathy was extended to Miss Collinson and Miss Baxter, who have suffered bereavement recently. Many matters of interest to the profession were discussed and recommendations made to the.council. which, it is hoped, will result in better service to members. ' The meeting closed with an appreciation of the secretary’s work during tbs year and a vote of thanks to all who liave assisted the branch during the past twelve months. •
