OTAGO CHAMPIONSHIPS FRAME RIDES WELL With the track partly under water and rain falling periodically, conditions were verv unfavourable for the final stages of the Otago amateur cycling championships at the Caledonian. Ground last evening. Although fast times were out of the question, very close finishes were provided m all the races. The outstanding performer was the Invercargill rider, W. Frame, who followed up his success of the first evenin" bv winning the five-mile championship and ' also the quarter-mile championship. In the former race one of the best finishes seen on the Caledonian Ground for many years was provided, the field being bunched until half a lap from the finish, when Frame, with a well-judged spurt, toon: the lead and went on to win by a length from G. Smith, who finished half a wheel ahead of J. Brown, of Milton. . The handicap and running events were postponed. With ten laps to go Fletcher went to the front going down the back straight, but the field was soon up with him again. At this stage it could be seen that it was going to be a close finish, and at helllap Frame went to the front with a good spurt, followed by Smith and Brown.
