FEDERAL LABOUR PARTY
MR LANG’S BID FOR CONTROL A SEVERE CHECK Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, February 7. (Received February 7, at 11.35 a.m.) The ‘ Herald ’ says that the plans of Lang Labour supporters to enlist the support of the Australian Workers’ Union to achieve unity on their own terms received a severe check when the delegates to the A.W.tJ. convention refused to accept proposals for rcaffiliation of the State branch of the union with the Lang Labour Party. A reverse decision, it is stated, would have practically 7 ensured success of the unity proposals of the Victorian Labour Party, which is said to have been designed to give the Lang group control of the Australian Labour Party, thus enabling Mr Lang to assume the Federal leadership.
