SOCIALIST PROPOSALS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I am pleased to observe that the Welfare League is learning. Its last letter .brought to light the fact that banks did not always control the right to create purchasing power, that borrowing and lending took place Jong before there were such things as banks. This admission is, of course, what 1 have been arguing all along. My argument is that the creation of purchasing power used to be tho prerogative of the governing authority, and that it should be restored to where it rightly belongs. The league then goes on to tell us what the Socialist policy is. The league is just about as competent to explain the true meaning of Socialism as the soul of Herod is to give a dissertation on Heaven. For its information I would inform it that it is the practical application of the teachings of Christianity.—l am, etc,, D. G. M'Millax. Kurow, February 2.
