SOUTHLAND HOSPITAL
DUNEDIN FIRM SECURES RODFING CONTRACT Tenders for the roofing of the five contracts comprising the new Southland Hospital were recently advertised, and the writer learns that the Petrous Tile Company Ltd. were the successful tenderers. The contract price was over £4,500 and involves the use of over 120,000 Welsh slates. This is undoubtedly one of the largest contracts of its kind let in the South Island for some years, and credit is due to the Dunedin firm for having been successful in combating competition from firms as far north as Christchurch. It is anticipated that the contract, which will not he commenced for about six months, will extend well into 1935.
