WATERSIDE WORKERS’ UNION

ANNUAL PICNIC The annual picnic of the Dunedin Waterside Workers’ Union was held on Saturday, when a holiday on the Dunedin waterfront was observed. About 500 union members and their friends journeyed to Outram by rail, and an additional 100 were conveyed by road. The day was an ideal one, and the sports and children’s races were conducted under a capable committee, with Mr T. Goody acting as secretary. The Waverley Boys’ Band, under the conductorship of ‘Mr Whelan, kept the crowd -nhvened with.musical selections dux-ing the day. The outing in the country for everyone was in every way refreshing, and for the children especially, the latter being treated to an abundance of sweets, fruit, soft drinks, and toys. The secretary of the Picnic Committee requests the owner of a small handkerchief m which is tied a small amount of money, which was found on the ground, to apply at the Waterside Workers’ Union office.
