WAR DEBTS
DELINQUENT EUROPEAN NATIONS AMERICA APPLIES PRESSURE Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. WASHINGTON, February 2. (Received February 3, at 9 a.m.) The Roosevelt Administration to-day appeared ready to apply pressure upon delinquent European war debtors, pointing out that the United States dollar devaluation wrought almost at least a theoretical reduction of 41 per cent, in the amounts owed.
Sentiment apparently ruled strong, both the Senate and the House of Representatives being favourable to some sort of retaliatory action, and a measure denying further credit to nations behind in their war debts is likely to be introduced at an early date by Senator Johnson (California).
