Hundreds are believed to be still buried. The Maharaja’s palace at Khatmandu is in ruins. The King’s two daughters were killed, also five other members of the Royal family. Nearly all the soldiers and police lost their relatives, but remained staunch to their duty, and looting was suppressed. No Europeans were injured.
