GREETINGS TO PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT

WASHINGTON, January 30. (Received January 31, at 1.30 p.m.) One hundred and fifty thousand telegrams and over 100,000 cards of greeting were received at White House to-day congratulating President Roosevelt on his birthday. Stacks of gifts and a dozen decorative birthday cakes were sent from all parts of the country. Some 6,000 charity dinners will be held and countless other celebrations.
THE STOCK MARKET NEW YORK, January 30. (Received January 31, at 1.20 p.m.) The stock market celebrated President Roosevelt’s birthday and the signing of the Gold Bill with an avalanche of buying orders, forcing all prices up, with heavy profit-taking in the closing hour erasing only parts ot the sizeable gains. The trading volume was over 4,000,000 shares, which is the largest since July. Industrial and Government bonds were likewise strong. Commodities were mixed, with wheat maintaining its gains. The dollar was fairly steady and slightly stronger than yesterday.
