The unloading of supplies .continued on Thursday after the Jacob Ruppert had returned to her former berth, alongside the high ice flooring at the Bay of Whales, a few miles south from the unloading point. The dogs and tractors have pounded the ice into ■ a smooth road four and a-half. miles long to Little America. To and from this highway passes a ceaseless transport of dog sledges and tractors. At half-hourly intervals the monoplane takes off for Little America with the cabins piled with food boxes.
