There were further tumultuous scenes on the revival of the Stavisky debate in the Chamber of Deputies. M. Herriot again attacked the Government, alleging that the name of M. Reynakly (Minister of Justice) figured in the Stavisky dossier, and demanding to know how tho public prosecutor dare act in such an event. M. Bouesse, ox-war-time air ace and a Socialist, jumped up and shouted: “ How much is being paid for this dirty work?” M. Herriot cried excitedly: “ Repeat that!” M. Bouesse, complying, added, amid tremendous excitement: “ I await your second,” after which he sprang at the Tribune apparently with the intention of grappling with M. Herriot. Ushers rushed up and ejected M. Bouesse. The wildest scenes followed, in which the Communists sang the ‘ International,’ the Right Wing endeavouring to drown them by hanging their desk lids. The President suspended the sitting for half an hour. M. Herriot, on resuming, was received with cheers from his friends and wails from his opponents. He- was repeatedly interrupted. M. Herriot declared that certain Stavisky documents had disappeared. M. Reynaldy’s explanatory communique was unsatisfactory. He asked, amid uproar, whether M. Chautemps always guaranteed the honbur of certain directors of the Compagnio Fpncierio, one of Stavisky’s ventures, after which he continued, a series of allegations, including the disbursement of secret funds by M. Chautemps and M. Boncour. He formally moved a motion of no-confidence in “ men projecting swindlers.” M. Chautemps, replying, said he was not interested in hushing up affairs, but the Government’s opponents were not thinking of justice. He defended MM. Boncour, Demozie, Reynaldy, and Bonnet, after which a vote of confidence was carried by 366 votes to'2o. FURTHER RIOTING PARIS, January 24. Renewed rioting took place early this morning in the vicinity of the Chamber, mostly by students and Communists. There were 120 arrests. - I " STAVISKY THE SECOND ” PARIS, January 24. The French’Press is calling Alexandre Stavisky tho Second, pointing out that the directors of his various companies included two deputies, 18 prefects, 30 Treasury commissioners, 66 judges, and 12 police commissioners. Charles Neuburger has been arrested. He founded a small bank in 1907 with a capital of 7,000,000 francs. It is believed that a sum of 10,000,000 to 20,000,000 francs is involved in tho failure.
