DEAD BODIES IN THE RUINS SEARCHERS' DREADFUL ORDEAL Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. CALCUTTA, January 24. (Received January 25, at 12.10 p.m.) Apart from hundreds of bodies disposed of in the first forty-eight hours, volunteers organised by the Salvation Army have unearthed a further 600 corpses at Monghyr alone. It is probable that another 1,000 are under the ruins. An aged woman was extricated after , being imprisoned for six days. She succumbed shortly after her rescue. The stench of the decomposing bodies makes the work of the searchers both unpleasant and dangerous. The fear of an epidemic is as strong as that of another earthquake.
