—Mixistehial.— The Prime Minister (Hon. G. W. Forbes) left Wellington last evening to make an extended tour of Otago and Southland. The Minister of Finance (Hon. J. G. ’ Coates) returned to Wellington from Auckland yesterday morning. The Postmaster-General (Hon. A.Hamilton left for the'South last evening. He will visit Southland, and later the Nelson district, ; The Minister of Public Works (Hon,J. Bitchener) left Wellington for F.icton yesterday afternoon. M, J. M. Samson was a passenger for Wellington by the through express today. Mr Harry Mayer, a past president of the New Zealand Bowling Association,returned to Wellington tb-day. Mr Allen Lee, who has been on a visit to Dunedin, left to-day on his return to Wellington. Mesdames Milne, Neill, Horn,Hindle, Lambeth, and Coll and Miss Brown left Dunedin to-day for Christchurch, where they are to compete in' the New Zealand croquet tournament. Mr and Mrs Norman Harper-Bell, of Los Angeles, are visiting Dunedin and are staying at Onslow House. Dr Walter Williams, president of the University of Missouri, Columbia, United States, who is on a tour of the world, is due to arrive in Wellington about February 20.' Dr Williams,, better known as Dean Williams, is the founder of the first organised University, School of Journalism in the world offer-; ing_ a degree in journalism. The school l was established at the University of Missouri, Columbia, United States, in ! 1908. He is also the founder of the Press Congress of the World, and was its first president, from which office ho retired at the sessions held at Lausanne, Switzerland, in 1926, and was succeeded by Mr Robert Bell, of Christchurch. Dr Williams is accompanied by his wife, Mrs Sarah Lockwood Williams, who is the author of ‘ Twenty Years of Education for Journalism;’ She is also a practical journalist and holds the B.J. degree. Burdon (Woodbury), Mrs 1 and the Misses Rutherford (Mendip Hills). . Guests at the City Hotel include Messrs H. E. Macandrew and G. Hart (Christchurch), Mr and MrsH. L. Saxton (Ashburton), Mr and Mrs E. Morgan, Miss Morgan (St. Bathans), and Mr H. Hornby (Moa Flat).
