The two starters covered the first mile and a-half at almost walking pace amid the jeers and catcalls of the crowd. Gordon Richards rode Colorado Kid and M. Beary was on Nitsichin. They were determined not make the running, and took a minute to cover a quarter of a mile. There was no attempt to gallop until the pair was approaching the straight Colorado Kid won by four lengths, the crowd booing. This was Richard’s fourth successive win on the day.
