HAWKE'S BAY DRAMA LEAGUE
A HASTINGS PLAYWRIGHT First place in tho Hawke’s Bay Drama League festival, in which thirten plays were presented, was awarded to the Hastings Comedy Players (says a Press Association telegram) for their performance of ‘ Knight to Move,’written -by Mr H. Russell Moss,_ of Hastings, who took tho male lead' In his own play. The identity of the author was unknown till after tho results of the judging by Mr Clement May, of Wellington, had been announced. Mr May, when he heard who tho author was, expressed himself as being # doubly pleased at the result of his judging. He said that if New Zealand authors could produce such work there need be nothing to fear for the welfare of the, theatre in this country. Speaking of tho winning team’s performance, Mr May described it as having set a standard which was at times quite equal to professional average.
