PIGEON FLYING
Tho Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club flew a flock race on Saturday from Ashburton, an airline distance of 154 miles, to tho winner’s loft. Tho station master liberated 120 birds from 18 lofts at 10.30 a.m. in fine weather, and tho birds gave a taste of their flyng ability by making over 50 miles an hour—a good fly so early in the season. Tho winning bird timed in at 1.31 p.m., completing the distance in 3h Imin. Result (in yards per minute) ;—G. Coutts’s Waimea, 1,495.5, 1; D. Cunningham’s Betty, 1,493.4, 2; R.
