BOWIE DEFEATS MASON IN R.S.A. FINAL In the final of the billiards championship of the Dunedin Returned Soldiers’ Association championship, played on Saturday night, A. Bowie defeated C. Mason by 760 to 653. There was a good attendance of spectators, who saw a very fine display. Mason wont ahead early, breaks of 31, 22, and 20 giving him a lead. _ Bowie, however, playing well and consistently, soon got on equal terms, and, principally by means of a fine break of 61, established a lead of over 100, which ho maintained. Best breaks: Bowie—6l, 47, 43, 39, 37, 29, 28, 26, 26, 26, 24, 23. Mason--44, 44, 38, 38, 35, 31, 23, 23, 20, 20. Bowie’s average per visit to tho table was 10.5, an excellent performance for an amateur. Both players aro taking part in the New Zealand amateur championship commencing at Christchurch next Saturday evening. Tho Now Zealand championship was won last year by Mason, with Bowie the runner-up.
