PROFESSOR EINSTEIN
COMMUNISM CONDEMNED DETERRENT TO HUMAN PROGRESS Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, September 17. (Received September 18, at 9 a.m.) Professor Einstein, in a letter to the newspapers, says: *' Like other intellectuals who feel it is their duty to serve the cause of human progress, 1 have misunderstood the true' objects of certain organisations which are really only camouflaged propaganda in the service of Russian despotism. In ignorance of their true purpose I allowed the war movements to use my- name, but I never favoured Communism. My opinion is that any Power must be the enemy of mankind which enslaves the (individual by terror, whether under ithe Fascist or Communist flag. All that is valuable to human society depends upon the opportunity for development accorded the individual.”
