CARNATIONS FROM SEED
Raising carnations from seed is very interesting, as there is always the chance of obtaining a good new variety. Carnations are as easily raised in this way as any other flowers, and if all the seedlings do not come np to exhibition form they are at least useful for garden display and cutting. Perpetual flowering varieties and border varieties alike lend themselves to this mode of increase. Sow the seed in a welldrained pot or box in a position sheltered from frost and wind. The seedlings should be pricked out separately in small pots when large enough, and grown on with care.
