NARCISSUS FORTUNE
Fortune is a giant iucomparabilis narcissi that is assured of a great popularity in the near future. One of its many virtues lies in its time of flowering. It is one of the first to flower, at a season when there is practically no bright colours among daffodils, and this magnificent variety has a place in this respect peculiarly its own. Its great freedom in blooming is a decided acquisition to the garden. The flower is stately, of great substance, and of perfect form. The broad perianth, of brilliant yellow, has a long, deep crown of glowing blood-orange of a very bold appearance, and in perfect proportion to the flower. It is a narcissi that flowers very freely, and has a grand constitution. It has already received many awards, and always attracts great attention when exhibited. When the bulbs become more reasonably priced this variety will find its way into every garden where these lovely spring flowers are appreciated. The crown of this lovely bulb keeps its colour and does not fade or burn, and the stems are strong and stout. The flowers, too, last for a long tiipe in fresh condition when cut. Those who have grown this variety speak very highly of it, and in time it will prove a valuable variety for market purposes. —' Manawatu Daily Times.’
