ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
MAORI CHILD DROWNED. A Maori child, Toi Woods, aged two rears and a-half, was drowned in a deep well in the vicinity of Owhata Point. The child was missed about 3 o’clock in the morning, and the body, was found floating in a well. Mr D, Galvin, who was in the vicinity, immediately jumped into the water and brought‘out the body, life being then extinct. Mr Galvin’s action was commended by the coroner (Mr W. L. ; Richards) at tho inquest, when a verdict of accidental death by drowning was returned. —Rotorua Press Association telegram. „ SERIOUS INJURY. J. F. Tredcr, married, an elderly farmer, of Konini, had his spine severely injured when a dray load of hay upset,—Pahiatua Press Association. KNOCKED DOWN BY MOTOR. Thomas Rowe, married, residing at 27 Melbourne street, was knocked down, by a motor car in the vicinity of the locomotive sheds on the Anderson’s Bayroad. last evening, and was taken to the hospital at (5.45 suffering from, injuries to bis ribs and shock.
