The Acting Prime Minister (the Hon. J. G. Coates) will leave Wellington for the south by the ferry steamer to-mor-row evening. He intends to speak in the Lyttelton by-election campaign. The Postmaster-General (Hon. A. Hamilton) left Wellington for the south last night. The Leader of the Labour Party (Mr H. E. Holland, M.P.) reached Christchurch this morning from Wellington. Mr M. D. M'Goun, treasurer of the New Zealand Dental Association, left for the north this morning. Messrs J. A. Hopcraft, A. Sligo, and P. W. Stabb are on they way to Wellington on M.U.1.0.0.F. business. Mr R. D. Nimmo went north this morning to embark for Australia on a business visit. Mr J. D. Woods was a passenger by this morning’s 11.35 train for the north. Mr R. W. Coupland, who is in charge of the Tourist Department’s Dunedin office, has been notified that he is to transfer to Christchurch. Mr C. A. Rendle, Christchurch manager for Chas. Begg and Co., went home from Dunedin to-day by the mail train. Mr Chas. Martin, who recently re- - turned from a world tour, has been appointed conductor of St. Joseph’s Choir, in place of Mr P. Clarke, who is retiring owing to ill-health. Professor J. Reid Burt, of the Dental School, has been appointed editor of the ‘ New Zealand Dental Journal,’ in succession to the late Mr Richmond Dunn, of Wellington. A Press Association message from London states that Mr David Jones (chairman of the New Zealand Meat Board) is sailing by the Tamaroa on Friday. A Blenheim Association message records the death of Mr John .Robert M'Kay, manager of Benopai Station,who died suddenly of heart disease, aged 61 years. He went to Blenheim many years ago from Canterbury, where his parents occupied the Woodstock and Cora Lynn Stations. He is survived by his wife, who is a complete invalid in Picton Hospital. Mr L. E. Sinclair, A.R.S.M., Assoc. Inst., M.M. (London), has arrived in New Zealand to join the consultant staff of the - Mining House (N.Z.) Limited. Mr F. W. Bishop (Sydney), Mr W. M. Jacks (Auckland), and Messrs H. F. Anderson and W r illiam G. Ferme (Christchurch )are at present staying at the Grand Hotel. New registrations at the City Hotel include Mr R. A. Wallis (Sydney), Mr Grant Borman (Auckland), Mr Pat. Lawlor (Wellington), Mr E N. T. Reece (Christchurch), Mrs R. F. Wallis (Gore), and Mr and Mrs T. Menzies Watson (Ohai).
