BOXING

A DOUBLE BILL The Otago Boxing Association has arranged a double professional bill for His Majesty’s Theatre next Monday night* when Bert Davis, the hard-hitting local middle-weight, will meet Tom Croft, of the West Coast, over fifteen three-min-ute rounds. Croft is the ex-Netv Zealand amateur middle-weight champion* and Davis also has had considerable championship experience as an amateur* Croft comes here with a good reputation, as he has won both his fights in professional ranks recently knocking out George M'Ewan, the clever Southland holder of the New Zealand professional middle-weight title, which was not at stake. Croft is a fast and clever boxer* and % very hard puncher, but he wilt be meeting a much-improved Davis. The latter is now being trained by Archio Leckie, and is showing great form in gymnasium work-outs. A fast and willing contest is assured, and it will be preceded by a ten-round professional bout between Charlie Buckley and C* Jones, of Oamafu, who have already, met once, Jones getting a close decision. In an endeavour to restore'boxing to it§ old popularity, the Otago Boxing Association is making the prices such as should he within the reach of all, and a large audience is anticipated.
