INCREASED VOLUME OF BUSINESS
DESPITE SMALLER TRANSACTIONS In a recent talk before the Gyro Club in Vancouver, Mr B. (J. Brock Smith, advertising supervisor for the Hudson’s Bay Company, stated that one of the present-day phenomena is the declining unit sale which was met by his company by increased volume of transactions through consistent advertising, solely in the daily newspapers, from which “ more action, and quicker action,” was obtained. “ Wo could have sat there and gone out of business waiting for the people to come to us. We wont to them. We are absolutely ‘ sold ’ on newspaper advertising.” ho said. He quoted steady increases in transactions based on monthly returns as follows February. 48.279; March, 59.703; April, 76.088; and May, 78.887; compared with corresponding periods, 1931.
