In their first innings the visitors made 255 runs. The Nawab of Pataudi scored 84. He hatted for 166 minutes. Leyland made 61. Ho hit one 6 and four 4’s, batting for eighty-three minute's. Stalker, a fairly fast bowler, took four wickets for 62. Jardine, who opened the innings, was bowled by .Stalker after scoring a single. Alexander, the interstate bowler, took one wicket for 05. Ballarat has scored 26 for one wicket (Tate one wicket for 8).-
