TOURNAMENT CONCLUDED I.YALL BAY WINS RINKS CHAMPIONSHIP [Peh United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, January 20. Tho three final games in the New Zealand rinks bowling championship were played to-day. The final between Jenkin (Carlton) and Naylor (Lyall Bay) was a thrilling contest, in which Jenkin at the halfway stage was in a winning position, leading 13-6. Naylor got 5, making it 13 all on the thirteenth head. The play was steady for the next four heads, but some splendid bowling was witnessed, worthy of a dominion championship. On the seventeenth head Naylor was two ahead. Carlton lay 1 on the next head, and Jenkin drew two more and took the lead. The shot changed about on the next head, Naylor’s last getting a wick in for 2. Ho scored a single on tho twentieth, and led by two with the last head to go. Hastings _ (Naylor’s lead) placed one one each side of the jack, almost touching. ' Pascoe placed a pearl ” in between for shot, the kitty sticking out two inches behind. Jenkin rested in and sent kitty into the open, Naylor trailed it into a nest of three Lyall Bay bowls well protected. Jenkin drove and missed, leaving Naylor 3 up to win a great contest by 5/23-18. Gilbert (Karori) had two lives, but lost his first in/the morning to Naylor, 34-11 and his second in the afternoon to Jenkin, 24-11. Karori, a young team, gave a creditable performance to get so far against experienced players. The president (Mr H. G. Mayer) presented the shield to the winners.
