A.Jolly and Son’s store at Tarras was broken into, and a quantity of tobacco, cigarettes, and clothing ' taken.Constable Forsythe was promptly, on the job, and it is quite possible an; arrest may be effected within -a few. days. ■ j j At a sitting of the Police Court this morning, Mr J. L. Stewart Wright, J.P.. presiding, Morton'Walters was remanded in custody to appear at Dunedin on a charge of stealing one bicycle (valued at £2 10s) at Miller’s Flat,and on November 11, at Cromwell, \ stealing one tennis shoe (valued at 5s ! 6d), the property of D. A. Jolly and Sons Ltd. . The rector of the Cromwell District High School has received word of a very satisfactory result in passes for the, proficiency examination, only one candidate having failed to pass.The pupils of the, school are now busy preparing for their annual concert in aid of school funds to be given on Thursday next.
