THE RANGE OF PRICES
[Per United Press Association.] ' CHRISTCHURCH, December 14. The first wool sale of the season was held in Christchurch this afternoon and evening. There was a full bench of buyers, including a strong representation from local mills which had a considerable effect in increasing competition and raising prices for super wools. Twenty-five thousand bales were effered and , the passings totalled • about 10 per cent., being particularly heavy in the first two catalogues. The following is the range of prices:— Merino— Super-medium, 7|d to ,9d. i 1 Medium, fid to 7d. Corriedale— Super, to 103 d. Medium, 83d to 9jd, Inferior, 6id to Bd. Fine Half-bred-Ex super., 11 Jd to 12£d. . Super., 9Jd to lid. Mediumy 83d to 9-id. : - Half-bred, 63d to 73d. Medium Half-bred— Super.,; S3d to 103 d. . Medium,’7]d"to'BJd. ' inferior, sjd to 73d. Coarse Half-bred— Super., 73d to BJd. Medium, 53d to 63d. Inferior, 4d to std. Three-quarterbred— Super., fid to 73d. Medium, 43d to 53d. Irfferior, 2Jd to 43d. Medium Cross-bred— Super., 4d to 5Jd. Medium, 3d to 33d. Inferior, 13d to 23d. Pieces—• Good, 7d to B|d. Inferior to average, 3d to fid. Bellies— Good, 5d to 7d. Inferior to average, 2d to 4ld. Crutchings— Medium to good, 3d to 43d.
