PORT CHALMERS SCHOOL FUNCTION
In the Town Hall last night a choice little entertainment was staged by the school children for the purpose of giving pleasure and augmenting the school prize fund. The juniors’ choir opened the programme with three folk songs, which readily brought applause. A drill display by the boys was followed by a Mickey Mouse number and then the ‘ Fairy Slippers ’ operetta came on in a glow of colour, pretty, dresses, and good singing. The senior choir distinguished itself in three good numbers, and the horses and jockeys feature preceeded the good singing by the boys’ choir. Marjory’s Empire Dream was an enchanting introduction to Fairyland, the fairies bringing the nations of the empire and their representative citizens to help the little girl with the difficult lesson which made her tired and sleepy. It was a pretty picturing of juvenile romance. Mr D. Wishart, headmaster, thanked all the people who had helped to make the children's effort so successful.
