lii the annual match between John M'Glashan College and St. Kevin’s College (Oamaru), commenced at Logan Park yesterday, St. Kevin’s could only manage to collect 94 against its opponents’ total of 140. The visitors’ innings closed at 4.30 yesterday, and at the drawing of stumps (6 p.m.) M'Glashan had lost four for CO in its second strike. The wicket was in excellent order for the resumption of play this morning, and M'Glashan carried its total to 179 after one and a-half hours’ play. Lambert, E. Stevenson, and Begg all batted freely and brightly, while Bell again carried his bat for 10. At the luncheon adjournment the visitors had lost two wickets with only 9 runs up, leaving the remaining eight batsmen 217 runs to get for a win. The details to lunch were:— M'GLASHAN COLLEGE. The visitors’ won the toss, and batted on a wicket which was rather soft and bumpy at tho start.
