ST. HILDA CHEER

A dance run by the St. Kilda Mayor’s Children’s Christmas Cheer Committee for raising funds for the picnic on December 17 was well patronised, and proved a great success in every way. The committee takes this opportunity of thanking Mr Wootton for bread, Mr Rennie for meat, W. and R. Stores for butter, Mr Taylor for milk, and Mr Boyer’s Melodymakers’ Band for supplying the music free, and the Borough Council for use of hall, etc. The concert given on Sunday night for the same object proved one of the best ever heard in the Coronation Hall. The mayor (Mr Beattie) occupied the chair, and was supported on the platform by Mr P. Jones, M.P., the Rev. Percy Paris, and Mr D. C. Cameron. The following ladies and gentlemen contributed items, each of which was received with great applause, the chairman having to intimate towards the close of the programme that encores could not be given owing to the lateness of the hour: —Miss Anita Winkel. Miss Evelyn Shepard, Miss Kathleen Bond, Miss Beth Ritchie, and Mrs D. Carty, Mr George Proctor, Mr Frank Watt, Mr D. Fogarty, Mr W. Smith, Uncle Ben, Messrs Neilson and Donaldson, Mr Lester Moller. The accompanistes were Miss Sybil Baker, Miss Kathleen Whelan, and Mrs G. Procter. To the above artists the committee expresses its sincere thanks and appreciation for the excellent programme rendered.
